Commercial Information Circular No. 618/2009

European Union (EU)* : Community Eco-Label Award Scheme

Further to Commercial Information Circulars No. 508/2006 of 20 December 2006, No.80/2007 of 7 February 2007, No.290/2007 of 31 July 2007, No.447/2007 of 26 November 2007, No. 69/2008 of 23 January 2008, No.616/2008 of 9 December 2008, and No.67/2009 of 6 February 2009, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Decision to extend the validity of the ecological criteria of 12 product groups. Details are set out in Commission Decision 2009/888/EC, which can be accessed through the following link:

DETAILS

  1. The Commission has conducted a review on the ecological criteria and the related assessment and verification requirements of 12 product groups. As a result of the review, the validity of the ecological criteria has been extended as follows:

    1. copying and graphic paper; light bulbs; laundry detergents; personal computers; and portable computers, the validity has been extended to 31 December 2010;

    2. hand dishwashing detergents; all-purpose cleaners and cleaners for sanitary facilities; and lubricants, to 30 June 2011; and

    3. soil improvers; growing media; soaps, shampoo and hair conditioners; and electrically driven, gas driven or gas absorption heat pumps, to 31 December 2011.
