Commercial Information Circular No. 615/2009

European Union (EU)* : Regulation on the Addition of Vitamins and Minerals to Foods

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 40/2007 of 15 January 2007, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation amending the list of vitamins and minerals and their forms which can be added to foods, including food supplements. DETAILS

  1. Directive 2002/46/EC and Regulation (EC) No. 1925/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council established lists of vitamins and minerals and their forms, which may be added to food and used for the manufacture of food supplements. Recently, new vitamins and minerals forms have been evaluated by the European Food Safety Authority and result of the evaluation concluded that some substances should be added to the lists. The revised lists of vitamins and minerals are set out in the Annexes of the Regulation.
