European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Wire Rod Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 72/2009 of 9 February 2009, the Council of the EU has published a regulation to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of wire rod originating in the Mainland of China. The regulation can be accessed through the following link :

  2. Salient points are set out below -
    (a) Product : Bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coils, of iron, non-alloy steel or alloy steel other than of stainless steel, falling within CN codes 7213 10 00, 7213 20 00, 7213 91 10, 7213 91 20, 7213 91 41, 7213 91 49, 7213 91 70, 7213 91 90, 7213 99 10, 7213 99 90, 7227 10 00, 7227 20 00, 7227 90 10, 7227 90 50 and 7227 90 95.
    (b) Rate of Duty  : 24.0% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price, before duty (except for one company whose individual duty rate is 7.9%).
    (c) Effective Date : 6 August 2009
    (d) Duration : 5 years
    (e) Collection of
    Duty
    : Amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of the product concerned since 8 February 2009 shall be definitively collected. The amounts secured in excess of the amount of the definitive anti-dumping duties shall be released. Where the definitive duties are higher than the provisional duties, only the amounts secured at the level of the provisional duties shall be definitively collected.
