Commercial Information Circular No. 185/2009

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Certain Aluminium Foil Originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 363/2008 of 14 July 2008, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of certain aluminium foil originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China. The regulation can be accessed through the following link :

DETAILS

  1. Salient points are set out below-
    (a) Product : Aluminium foil of a thickness of not less than 0.008 mm and not more than 0.018 mm, not backed, not further worked than rolled, in rolls of a width not exceeding 650 mm and of a weight exceeding 10 kg, normally declared within CN code ex 7607 11 19 (TARIC code 7607 11 19 10).
    (b) Rate of Duty : 42.9% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for 3 companies whose individual duty rates range from 10.7% to 31.9%).
    (c) Effective Date : 9 April 2009 (the duty will apply for 6 months).
    (d) Collection of Duty   The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
    (e) Time Limit for Comments : Interested parties may request disclosure of the essential facts and considerations on the basis of which the regulation was adopted, make their views known in writing and apply to be heard by the Commission within one month from 9 April 2009.
