Commercial Information Circular No. 164/2009

European Union (EU)* : Ecodesign Requirements for Non-directional Household Lamps

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 331/2005 of 17 August 2005, the European Commission (the Commission) has adopted a Regulation specifying the ecodesign requirements for non-directional household lamps. DETAILS

  2. The Regulation specifies the ecodesign requirements, conformity assessment and verification procedures for non-directional household lamps, including when they are marked for non-household use or when they are integrated into other products. Details of the eco-design requirements for non-directional household lamps are set out in Annex II of the Regulation. The ecodesign requirement shall be implemented in six stages starting from 1 September 2009 to 1 September 2016.
     
  3. Separately, the Regulation also establishes products information requirements for special purpose lamps. Starting from 1 September 2009, information on their intended purpose and that they are not suitable for household room illumination should be clearly and prominently indicated on the packaging and all forms of product information.
