Turkey : Initiation of an Anti-dumping Proceeding Concerning Imports of Tempered Glass Lids Originating in, inter alia, Hong Kong

The Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade of Turkey (the Undersecretariat) has announced the initiation of an anti-dumping proceeding on imports of tempered glass lids originating in, inter alia, Hong Kong. DETAILS

  1. Salient points are set out below - 
(a) Date of Publication of the Notice : 17 December 2008
(b) Product Coverage : Tempered glass lids, normally classified within Turkish customs tariff code 7010 20.00.00.00 (this code is given for information only).
(c) Procedures : In order to obtain necessary information for the investigation, the Undersecretariat will send questionnaire and related documents to known exporters/producers in Hong Kong. The questionnaire together with its annexes are obtainable from the Undersecretariat's website at http://www.dtm.gov.tr/dtmweb/index.cfm?action=detayrk&yayinID=1246&icerikID=1357&dil=EN.

Please note that in accordance with the questionnaire issued by the Undersecretariat, all information including questionnaire shall be submitted in both soft copy (in CD or DVD) as well as in hard copy. A lack of computerized response may be considered as non-cooperation. All documents and materials submitted in response to the questionnaire must be accompanied by a Turkish translation or if it is not possible, accompanied by an English translation.

Interested parties may request the information they provide to be kept confidential, and such requests can be made with grounds for confidentiality request and a meaningful non-confidential summary of all information submitted, or in case the impossibility of presenting such a summary, a certificate evidencing the justification thereof shall be submitted.

Questionnaire completed by the interested parties must be returned with any other relevant information to the Turkish authority within 37 days from the date of issue of the Gazette Communiqué at the following address :

BACKGROUND

  1. The Undersecretariat initiated the proceeding on the basis of a complaint lodged by Ugurlu Oto Cam San.Tic.Ltd.Şti and Ufuk Metal San. Tic.Ltd.Şti. It was alleged that the product concerned were being imported at dumping prices, thereby causing material injury to the domestic industry.
