Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 305/2008

European Union (EU) * : Modifications of Names and Addresses of Certain Parties Exempted from the Extended Anti-dumping Duty Imposed on Imports of Certain Bicycle Parts Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 271/2007 of 12 July 2007, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a notice to update the names and addresses of certain parties exempted from the extended anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of certain bicycle parts originating in the Mainland of China. The notice can be accessed through the following link :
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:C:2008:135:0005:0006:EN:PDF.

DETAILS

  1.
  2. Definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of bicycles originating in the Mainland of China has been imposed since 10 September 1993. Based on the findings of a circumvention investigation, the Council of the EU extended with effect from 19 January 1997 the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of bicycles originating in the Mainland of China to imports of certain bicycle parts originating in the Mainland of China. Subsequent to an interim review, the subject anti-dumping duty has been increased from 30.6% to 48.5% and imposed for a new five-year term starting from 15 July 2005. Bicycle assemblers in the EU could however request for exemption from the extended anti-dumping duty if they could prove, among other things, that their assembly operations did not circumvent the EU's anti-dumping duty imposed on bicycles originating in the Mainland of China. The Commission would publish and update the list of exempted parties as and when necessary.

  3. Eight exempted parties, whose legal names and/or addresses have been changed, informed the Commission of the modifications. Having examined the information supplied, the Commission considered that these changes should not affect the exemption from the extended anti-dumping duty and therefore published the updated information on these exempted parties. Details are shown in the Annex to the Commission's notice.
