Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 123/2008

European Union (EU)* : Termination of the Partial Interim Review of the Anti-dumping Measures on Imports of Okoumé Plywood Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 472/2006 of 30 November 2006, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to terminate the partial interim review of the anti-dumping measures imposed on imports of okoumé plywood originating in the Mainland of China. The regulation can be accessed through the following link :
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2008:042:0009:0010:EN:PDF.

DETAILS

  1.
  2. The partial interim review was initiated on the basis of a request lodged by the European Federation of the Plywood Industry (the applicant), which alleged that new product types having appeared on the market should be included in the scope of the anti-dumping measures on the grounds that they share the same basic physical and chemical characteristics and end uses as the product covered by the existing measures.

  3. By a letter dated 5 December 2007 to the Commission, the applicant withdrew its request for the partial interim review. As a result, the Commission decided that the review be terminated without amending the anti-dumping measures currently in force.

BACKGROUND

  1. Definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of okoumé plywood originating in the Mainland of China has been imposed since 13 November 2004 at a rate of 66.7% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for four companies with individual duty ranging from 6.5% to 23.5%).
