Turkey: Safeguard Actions on Mainland's Textiles and Clothing Products
Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 13/2006 dated 9 January 2006, Turkey has announced that it will continue to apply quantitative restrictions on 44 categories of Mainland textiles and clothing (T & C) products for 2007.
DETAILS

The Turkish authorities announced by way of a circular on 24 December 2006 that an investigation has established that T & C imports from the Mainland have caused or threatened to cause market disruption and the orderly development of commerce. They have therefore decided to unilaterally impose quantitative limits on the imports of 44 categories of Chinese T & C products for another year with effect from 1 January 2007. Shipments of the products concerned will have to be covered by proper import licences. In this connection, traders are reminded to confirm with their buyers or importers on details of the import arrangements before arranging export of the relevant T & C products originating in the Mainland.
