Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 252/2007

European Union (EU)* : Tariff Quotas for Certain Agricultural and Industrial Products

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 78/2007 of 7 February 2007, the Council of the EU (the Council) has adopted a regulation amending the list of products eligible for reduced tariffs under the Community tariff quota mechanism. The regulation can be accessed through the following link :
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/site/en/oj/2007/l_166/l_16620070628en00010003.pdf.

DETAILS

  1. Tariff quotas allow Community industries to acquire products which are inadequate or non-existent in the Community. Products eligible for tariff quotas can be imported into the EU at reduced or zero tariff rate up to the quota limit within a specified period of time. The normal tariff rate will resume when imports reach the quota limit or upon expiry of the quota validity period. Details of the amendments to the quotas are set out in the regulation and its annexes. The amendments mainly cover chemical products and shall apply from 1 July 2007.
