Commercial Information Circular No. 412/2006

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Certain Frozen Strawberries Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 30/2006 of 19 January 2006, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of certain frozen strawberries originating in the Mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Annex #(pdf format) for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product : Strawberries, uncooked or cooked by steaming or boiling in water, frozen, whether or not containing added sugar or other sweeteners, falling within CN codes 0811 10 11, 0811 10 19 and 0811 10 90.
(b) Rate of Duty : 34.2% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for 2 companies whose individual duty rates range from 0% to 12.6%).
(c) Effective Date : 19 October 2006 (the duty will apply for 6 months).
(d) Collection of Duty : The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
(e) Time Limit for Comments : Interested parties may request disclosure of the essential facts and considerations on the basis of which the regulation was adopted, make their views known in writing and apply to be heard by the Commission within one month from 19 October 2006.
