Commercial Information Circular No. 105/2006

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Chamois Leather Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 228/2005 of 30 June 2005, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of chamois leather originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Annex (pdf format) for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product  : Chamois leather and combination chamois leather, whether or not cut to shape, including chamois and combination chamois crust leather, falling within CN codes 4114 10 10 and 4114 10 90.
(b) Rate of Duty  : 62% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty.
(c) Effective Date  : 18 March 2006 (the duty will apply for 6 months).
(d) Collection of Duty  : The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
(e) Time Limit for Comments   : Interested parties may make their views known in writing and apply to be heard by the Commission within one month from 18 March 2006.
