Commercial Information Circular No. 47/2005

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Barium Carbonate Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 123/2004 of 12 May 2004, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of barium carbonate originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Annex (pdf format) for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product : Barium carbonate with a strontium content of more than 0.07% by weight and a sulphur content of more than 0.0015% by weight, whether in powder, pressed granular or calcined granular form, falling within CN code ex 2836 60 00 (TARIC code 2836 60 00 10).
(b) Rate of Duty : EUR 60.8 per tonne (except for two companies whose individual duty rates are EUR 20.6 per tonne and EUR 45.7 per tonne).
(c) Effective Date : 30 January 2005 (the duty will apply for 6 months).
(d) Collection of Duty  : The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
(e) Time Limit for Comments : Interested parties may make their views known in writing and apply to be heard by the Commission within one month from 30 January 2005.
