Commercial Information Circular No. 419/2005

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Certain Magnesia Bricks Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 130/2005 of 13 April 2005, the Council of the EU has published a regulation to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain magnesia bricks originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Attachment  (pdf format) for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product : Chemically bonded, unfired magnesia bricks, whose magnesia component contains at least 80% MgO, whether or not containing magnesite, falling within CN codes ex 6815 91 00, ex 6815 99 10 and ex 6815 99 90 (TARIC codes 6815 91 00 10, 6815 99 10 20 and 6815 99 90 20).
(b) Rate of Duty : 39.9% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for six companies with individual duty rates ranging from 2.7% to 27.7%).
(c) Effective Date : 13 October 2005
(d) Duration : Five years
(e) Collection of Provisional Duty : Amounts secured by way of provisional anti-dumping duty imposed since 13 April 2005 will be definitively collected at the rate of the definitive anti-dumping duties. Any amount secured in excess of the definitive duty rates will be released. Where the definitive duties are higher than the provisional duties, only the amounts secured at the level of the provisional duties will be definitively collected.
