Commercial Information Circular No. 288/2005

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Tartaric Acid Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 279/2004 of 6 November 2004, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of tartaric acid originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Annex (pdf format)  for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product : Tartaric acid, falling within CN code 2918 12 00.
(b) Rate of Duty : 34.9% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for three companies with individual duty ranging from 2.4% to 13.8%).
(c) Effective Date : 30 July 2005 (the duty will apply for 6 months).
(d) Collection of Duty  : The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
(e) Time Limit for Comments : Interested parties may make their views known in writing and apply to be heard by the Commission within one month from 30 July 2005.
