European
Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping
Duty on Imports of
Tartaric Acid Originating in the Mainland of China
Further to Commercial
Information Circular No. 279/2004 of 6 November 2004, the European Commission
(the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional
anti-dumping duty on imports of tartaric acid originating in the mainland
of China. A copy of the regulation is at Annex
(pdf format) for reference. Salient
points are set out below-

Tartaric
acid, falling within CN code 2918 12 00. |

(b) Rate of Duty |
: |
34.9% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price
before duty (except for three companies with individual duty ranging
from 2.4% to 13.8%). |

(c) Effective Date |
: |
30 July 2005 (the duty will apply for 6 months). |

(d) Collection of Duty |
: |
The release of the product for free circulation
in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent
to the amount of the provisional duty. |

(e) Time Limit for Comments |
: |
Interested parties may make their views known in writing and
apply to be heard by the Commission within one month from
30 July 2005. |
