Commercial Information Circular No. 273/2005

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Barium Carbonate Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 47/2005 of 5 February 2005, the Council of the EU has published a regulation to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of barium carbonate originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Annex (pdf format)for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product : Barium carbonate with a strontium content of more than 0.07% by weight and a sulphur content of more than 0.0015% by weight, whether in powder, pressed granular or calcined granular form, falling within CN code ex 2836 60 00 (TARIC code 2836 60 00 10).
(b) Rate of Duty : EUR 56.4 per tonne (except for two companies whose individual duty rates are EUR 6.3 per tonne and EUR 8.1 per tonne).
(c) Effective Date : 22 July 2005
(d) Duration : Five years
(e) Collection of Provisional Duty : Amounts secured by way of provisional anti-dumping duties imposed since 30 January 2005 will be definitively collected at the rate of the definitive anti-dumping duties. The amounts secured in excess of the amount of the definitive anti-dumping duties will be released. Where the definitive duties are higher than the provisional duties, only the amounts secured at the level of the provisional duties will be definitively collected.
