Commercial Information Circular No. 130/2005

European Union (EU)* : Imposition of Provisional Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Certain Magnesia Bricks Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 176/2004 of 16 July 2004, the European Commission (the Commission) has published a regulation to impose a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of certain magnesia bricks originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is at Annex (pdf format) for reference. Salient points are set out below-

(a) Product  : Chemically bonded, unfired magnesia bricks, whose magnesia component contains at least 80% MgO, whether or not containing magnesite, falling within CN codes ex 6815 91 00, ex 6815 99 10 and ex 6815 99 90 (TARIC codes 6815 91 00 10, 6815 99 10 20 and 6815 99 90 20).
(b) Rate of Duty : 66.1% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for nine companies with individual duty rates ranging from 11.2% to 66.1%).
(c) Effective Date  : 13 April 2005 (the duty will apply for 6 months).
(d) Collection of Duty The release of the product for free circulation in the Community shall be subject to the provision of a security equivalent to the amount of the provisional duty.
(e) Time Limit for Comments  Interested parties may make their views known in writing and apply to be heard by the Commission within 30 days from 13 April 2005.
