European Union (EU)* :Amendment to Regulation Setting
Maximum Levels for Certain Contaminants in Foodstuffs

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 72/2001 of 28 March 2001 about the new Commission Regulation (EC) No. 466/2001 setting the maximum levels for certain contaminants allowed in foodstuffs, the European Commission (EC) has recently adopted an amendment to the Regulation. The amendment sets out the maximum levels allowed for (a) aflatoxins in certain species of spices, and (b) ochratoxin A in certain foodstuffs including cereals, dried vine fruit, green and roasted coffee and coffee products and wine. Details are set out in Commission Regulation (EC) No. 472/2002 and the corresponding corrigenda, copies of which are at Annex I (pdf format) and Annex II (pdf format) respectively.
