European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Certain Zinc Oxides Originating in the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 150/2001 of 5 October 2001, the Council of the EU has published a regulation in the Official Journal of the European Communities to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain zinc oxides originating in the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is appended (pdf format) to this Circular for reference. Details are as follows :

(a) Product : Zinc oxide (chemical formula : ZnO) with a purity of not less than 93% zinc oxide, classifiable within CN code ex 2817 0000 (TARIC Code 2817 0000 11).
(b) Rate of Definitive Duty : 28.0% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty (except for four companies with individual duty rates ranging from 6.9% to 26.3%).
(c) Effective Date : 6 March 2002
(d) Collection of Provisional Duty : The amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty imposed since 19 September 2001 will be collected at the rate of the duty definitively imposed. Amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty which exceed the definitive anti-dumping duty will be released.
