Commercial Information Circular No. 147/02

European Union (EU) * : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Sulphanilic Acid Originating in, inter alia, the Mainland of China

Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 67/2002 of 11 April 2002, the Council of the EU has published a regulation in the Official Journal of the European Communities to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of sulphanilic acid originating in, inter alia, the mainland of China. A copy of the regulation is appended (pdf format )to this Circular for reference. Salient points are as follows :

(a) Product : Sulphanilic acid classifiable within CN code ex 2921 4210 (TARIC Code 2921 4210 60).
(b) Rate of Definitive Duty : 21.0% of the net, free-at-Community-frontier price before duty
(c) Effective Date : 26 July 2002
(d) Collection of Provisional Duty : The amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty imposed since 5 April 2002 will be collected at the rate of the duty definitively imposed. The amounts of the provisional anti-dumping duty secured in excess of the definitive anti-dumping duty will be released.
