The
Mainland of China : Notice Concerning the Restriction on Production,
Sale and Usage of Plastic Shopping Bags
The State Council
issued a notice on 31 December 2007, announcing the ban on production,
sale and usage of plastic shopping bags thinner than 0.025mm in the Mainland
with effect from 1 June 2008. From the same day, it also prohibits retail
spots such as supermarkets, shopping malls, trading markets, etc. from
providing plastic shopping bags free of charge. A copy of the notice is
