The Tenth Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed the "Law on Anti-Monopoly" on 30 August 2007, which will take effect from 1 August 2008. According to the Law, the Mainland prohibits all forms of monopolistic arrangements. The State Council will set up an anti-monopoly commission to organise, harmonize and direct work on anti-monopoly, and will assign implementation units to conduct investigation on suspected monopolistic acts.
