The Mainland of China : Regulations on Employment of Disabled Persons
The State Council of the People's Republic of China issued Decree No. 488 on 25 February 2007, promulgating the "Regulations on Employment of Disabled Persons", which will take effect from 1 May 2007. The Regulations set out the responsibilities of enterprises in employing disabled persons and the protective measures relating to their employment. Article 8 also stipulates that each employing unit should employ no less than 1.5% of the total workforce for the disabled, and the exact proportion will be decided by the government of individual provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. A copy of the Regulations is attached at Annex (pdf format) for reference.
