Dear Sirs,
Commercial
Information Circular No. 33/2006
The
Mainland of China : Supplementary
Provisions to the "Interim Rules on Setting Up Travel Agency Majority-owned
or Wholly-owned by Foreign Investors"
In relation to the signing of Supplement
II to the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement,
the China National Tourism Association and the Ministry of Commerce
jointly promulgated on 29 December 2005 supplementary provisions to
the "Interim Rules on Setting Up Travel Agency Majority-owned or
Wholly-owned by Foreign Investors", which took effect from 1 January
2006. The supplementary provisions lower the entry requirement in the
Mainland for Hong Kong service suppliers providing tourism and travel
related services: the annual business turnover of the Hong Kong service
suppliers should not be less than US$25 million for setting up wholly
owned travel agencies in the Mainland; and not less than US$12 million
for setting up joint venture travel agencies in the Mainland. A copy
of the supplementary provisions is attached at Annex
(pdf format) for reference.
- For details of the "Interim Rules
on Setting Up Travel Agency Majority-owned or Wholly-owned by Foreign
