Indonesia :Import Procedures on Certain Textiles

 

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) of Indonesia issued a decree no. 732/MPP/Kep/10/2002 dated 22nd October 2002 (in Indonesian version only) promulgating its new import procedures on certain textiles with immediate effect.

DETAILS

  1. The Department has recently obtained an authorized English translation of the decree. According to it, 18 groups of textiles (list at Annex A (pdf format)) can only be imported to Indonesia by companies with recognition as Textile "Importer Producer". Such imports shall only be used as the raw materials or auxiliary material for the production process of the manufactures owned by the Textile "Importer Producer". They are prohibited from being sold and transferred. Recognition as Textile "Importer Producer" shall be determined by the Director-General of International Trade of MIT. Textile "Importer Producer" must also submit monthly report on the realization of its textile importation. Please refer to the copy of translation at Annex B (pdf format) for more information.
     

  2. The Department will seek further clarification with the Indonesian authorities on the implementation and will keep the trade informed through the issue of Commercial Information Circulars as appropriate.
