The Mainland of China : Regulation on the Administration
of the Import and Export of Goods
According to relevant provisions in the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, the State Council recently formulated the Regulation of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of the Import and Export of Goods (the Regulation), which has become effective from 1 January 2002. The purposes of the Regulation are regulating the administration of import and export of goods, maintaining proper order of import and export, and promoting trade development. The Regulation sets out the principles on the administration of import and export of goods, state trading and designated trading, and the monitoring and promotion of import and export of goods etc. According to Article 77 of this Regulation, five previous regulations/temporary arrangements on import and export of goods issued between 1984 and 1994 were abolished at the same time when this regulation came into effect..
