Australia :Additional Import Measures on "Jelly Cups"
and Food containing Konjac

The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) has announced in an Imported Food Notice No. 45/01 dated 23 November 2001 certain import measures on "jelly cups" and food containing konjac (which is also known as "konjac flour", "konnyaku", "glucomannan", "yam flour or yam powder", "taro flour or taro powder").

  1. With the immediate effect, all food containing konjac are not permitted to be sold as food in Australia. Importers are advised to ensure that the food they import does not contain konjac or any other unapproved or prohibited additive. A copy of the Import Food Notice is appended (pdf format) for reference.
