The Mainland of China : Measures on Imports of Wood Packing
Materials from the US and Japan
The State Administration for Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine, the Customs General Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation have implemented since 1 January 2000 an urgent quarantine measures on imports of wood packing materials from the US and Japan (Please refer to my Commercial Information Circulars No. 179/99 dated 15 November 1999 and No. 197/99 dated 18 December 1999). The samples of the documents required under the measures are attached for your reference. The samples include :

Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the official plant quarantine department of the US;

Phytosanitary Certificate issued by the official plant quarantine department of Japan; and
- for those shipments using non-coniferous wood packing materials or not using wood packing material, declaration issued by the exporter.
