Philippines
: Imports of Scientific, Educational and Cultural Publications
into the Philippines
The Department has
received confirmation from the Philippines authorities that the UNESCO
Florence Agreement continues to apply to Hong Kong after July 1997, and
that all scientific, educational and cultural publications from Hong Kong
covered by the above agreement destined for use in the Philippines are
effectively exempted from the payment of taxes and duties at their end.
Refund for duties already paid on duty free importation of scientific,
educational and cultural materials from Hong Kong will be effected retroactively
from 1 July 1997.
