Mexico : Modified List of Imported Products Covered by Ministry of Environment Requirements

The Mexican government has modified the list of imported products that must comply with certain requirements established by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources in order to be imported into Mexico.

DETAILS

2.The updated list of imported products adds Spondylus calcifer and Tivela stultorum classified under Southern Common Market (Mercosur1) Common Classification (NCM) codes 0307.71.01 and 1605.56.01, queen conch (Strombus gigas) classified under NCM codes 0307.91.01 and 1605.59.99, and sea cucumber (Isostichopus fuscus) classified under NCM codes 0308.11.01, 0308.19.99 and 1605.61.01 to the section setting forth the wildlife whose importation or exportation is subject to the presentation of a permit or certificate in accordance with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), as well as the section that covers parts and by-products of wildlife whose importation or exportation is subject to the presentation of a CITES permit or certificate.

3.Additionally, the CITES import and export controls for tariff lines 0307.79.99 and 0307.99.99 have been modified to cover only Spondylus calcifer, Tivela stultorum and queen conch (Strombus gigas) shipments, while tariff line 0307.89.99 has been removed from the list.

1 The Southern Common Market (Mercosur) includes Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela. Membership of Venezuela has been temporarily suspended since 2 December 2016.
