Mexico : Standards for Certain Products

The Mexican government has issued new/updated mandatory standards for certain products.

2.The mandatory standards are tabulated as follows for easy reference. For details, please refer to the relevant official notices (in Spanish).

  • Standard NOM-028-ENER-2010 is amended to make clear that incandescent, halogen incandescent, self-ballasted compact fluorescent, linear fluorescent, high-intensity discharge and mixed-light lamps cannot be made or imported into Mexico unless they fully comply with the requirements of this standard.

  • Standard NOM-025/1-NUCL-2017 includes definitions, classification, technical requirements, and marking, identification and documentary requirements.
  • Effective 12 June 2017.
Systems to Measure Electricity http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5476075&fecha=13/03/2017
  • Standard NOM-EM-007-CRE-2017 includes definitions; safety and technical specifications; integrity specifications; review and testing procedures; conformity assessment procedures; and provisions regarding equipment used in public lighting, compliance with international standards, and recognition of international certificates and test reports.
  • Effective 14 March 2017 and will remain in place for a period of six months, with the possibility of being renewed for an additional six-month term.
