Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 993/2013

Canada : Industry Guidance - "Danger to Human Health or Safety" Posed by Consumer Products

Health Canada recently issued a document, "Industry Guidance - "Danger to Human Health or Safety" Posed by Consumer Products." This document provides industry with general information on factors that Health Canada will consider when determining whether a consumer product poses a "danger to human health or safety," how this determination affects actions taken by Health Canada, and measures industry members should consider to help reduce these dangers.

2.Under sections 7 and 8 of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA), industry is responsible for making sure that the products they manufacture, import, advertise or sell on the Canadian market do not pose a "danger to human health or safety." This document contains a summary of relevant concepts and powers under the CCPSA. For details, please refer to the guidance document which is available at http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/pubs/indust/cons-prod-danger/index-eng.php.
