Commercial Information Circular No. 938/2013
Chile : Modification of Food Safety Regulations
The Chilean government issued Decree No. 21/2013 and No. 22/2013 on 5 October 2013 to modify the food safety regulations.
2. Decree No. 21/2013 sets out the maximum levels for certain micro-organisms in processed fruits and vegetables with immediate effect. The maximum levels are set out in Article 1 of Decree No. 21/2013.
3. Decree No. 22/2013 sets out the maximum levels for microtoxins in cereal, milk, cocoa, coffee, corn, nuts, certain spices, and juice, concentrates and related products, including certain fruit. The maximum levels are set out in Article 1 of Decree No. 22/2013. The provisions for total aflatoxins, aflatoxins M1 and zearalenone will come into effect immediately, while provisions for other microtoxins will take effect on 5 October 2014.
