Commercial Information Circular No. 935/2013

Argentina : Reduced Duty for Certain Hydrocarbons

The Argentine government issued Decree No. 927/2013 in July 2013 to establish the import duty of certain hydrocarbons with immediate effect until 30 June 2014.

2.New hydrocarbons classified under Mercosur1 Common Classification (NCM) 8421.39.90 and 9406.00.92 will benefit from a reduced duty of 14%, and those classified under NCM 8430.49.20 will benefit from duty-free treatment. For used hydrocarbons classified under NCM 8430.49.20 and 9406.00.92 will enjoy the same preferential treatment as new hydrocarbons, while only the following used hydrocarbons classified under NCM 8421.39.90 will enjoy the same duty treatment as new hydrocarbons: (1) bag-type air filters with a filtering surface of 8,143 square metres, a maximum processing capacity of 350,000 cubic meters per hour and build-in screw conveyors, for discharging solid materials; and (2) cyclone air cleaners with a built-in 7.5 kilowatt electric motor and a maximum processing capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per hour.
