Mexico : Food Additive Regulations Modified

Mexico's Ministry of Health has recently issued a supplementary rule that modifies regulations on permitted additives and coadjuvants in food, non-alcoholic beverages and food supplements.

DETAILS

2.The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular no. 654/2012 the publishing in the Official Gazette (Diario Oficial de la Federación) of 16 July 2012 new regulations on additives and processing aids for foodstuffs, beverages and food supplements.

3.Mexican authorities on 5 September 2013 issued a supplementary rule that modifies the provisions included in (1) annex I with respect to thiodipropionates, benzoates, potassium carbonate, isopropyl citrates, sodium dicetate, phosphates, ethoxylated mono and diglycerides, ammonium salts of phosphatidic acid, sulphites and tartrates; (2) annex II with respect to sodium acetate, glacial acetic acid, erythorbic acid, calcium carbonate, sodium carbonate, disodium guanylate, calcium propionate and potassium propionate; (3) annex III with respect to carotenoids and brilliant black PN; (4) annex IV with respect to carboxypeptidase, glucoamylase and phospholipase C; (5) annex VII with respect to aspartame and aspartame-acesulfame; (6) annex VIII with respect to isomalt; and (7) annex XI with respect to synthetic flavourings.
