US : Energy Conservation Program: Test Procedures for Microwave Ovens

The US Department of Energy (DoE) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 18 January 2013 a final rule amending test procedures for microwave ovens. Relevant FR notice is available at:

DETAILS

2.The final rule amends current test procedures for microwave ovens to incorporate by reference certain provisions of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Standard 62301 (Second Edition) for measuring standby mode and off mode energy use. It also clarifies testing requirements for supply voltage and alternative metric units, as well as definitions of certain combined products.

3.The effective date of the final rule is 19 February 2013, and the changes will be mandatory for representations of the energy efficiency of microwave ovens starting 17 July 2013.
