Commercial Information Circular No. 742/2013

US : Energy Conservation Standards for Commercial Refrigeration Equipment and Walk-in Coolers and Walk-in Freezers Proposed to be Amended

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 12 September 2013 notices of proposed rulemaking, proposing amended energy conservation standards for commercial refrigeration equipment and walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers.

DETAILS

2. The proposed amended energy conservation standards for commercial refrigeration equipment consist of maximum daily energy consumption values as a function of either refrigerated volume or total display area. The proposed amended energy conservation standards for walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers are expressed as an annual walk-in energy factor for refrigeration systems, the maximum allowable U-factor expressed as a function of the ratio of edge area to core area for panels, and the maximum allowable daily energy use expressed as a function of the surface area for non-display and display doors.
