Chile : Regulations on Commercial Transactions of Agricultural Products

The Chilean government issued Decree No. 19/2013 on 24 June 2013 to set out the registration requirements of the representation of producer, agro-bussinessman or intermediary, as well as laboratories for the testing of agricultural products. Laboratories applying for registration must have the appropriate infrastructure, equipment, materials and reagents, as well as a quality management system.

2. The Chilean government also issued Decree No. 20/2013 on 24 June 2013 that applies to commercial transactions involving corn. The Decree sets out the procedures for (1) measuring the quantity, weight or volume of corn; (2) collection, obtaining, handling, storage, transporting and custody of samples and counter samples of corn; (3) analysing the characteristics of corn, as well as methodologies to be used by calibration laboratories.
