Dear Sirs,

Commercial Information Circular No. 608/2013

Brazil : Modifications of Procedures to Verify Origin of Imports Not Subject to Trade Remedy Measures

Pursuant to Commercial Information Circular No. 320/2013 of 30 April 2013 regarding the simplication of the procedures to verify the origin of products not subject to trade remedy measures, the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) of Brazil issued Decree No. 22/2013 on 23 May 2013 to modify the procedures.

2. The number of working days for Brazilian importers to submit a Declaration of Origin upon MDIC's request via the Integrated System for International Trade (SISCOMEX) is extended to ten days. The origin declaration requirement is also waived for imports originating from countries Brazil has signed an international agreement granting tariff preference with as long as any such imports are accompanied by the applicable certificate of origin.

3. For details, traders are advised to consult their importers in Brazil and/or the above Brazilian Decree (in Portuguese), which is available at: http://www.mdic.gov.br/arquivos/dwnl_1369400998.pdf.
