Commercial Information Circular No. 607/2013

Brazil: Modification of Import Tariffs and Establishment of Tariff Rate Quotas on Various Products

The Brazilian government has modified the import tariffs of a number of products, and established tariff rate quotas on certain imports. A summary of the changes is set out as follows:

  1. Certain pharmaceutical products classified under Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR1 ) Common Classification (NCM) code 3002.10.39 Ex 019 would benefit from duty-free treatment from 31 May 2013 until 31 December 2013.
  1. Certain pharmaceutical products classified under NCM codes 3002.10.29 Ex 001, 002 and 003, 3002.10.39 Ex 026, 3004.90.69 Ex 036 and 3004.90.79 Ex 023, would benefit from duty-free treatment from 31 May 2013.
  1. Import tariffs of certain products would benefit from a six-month reduced duty of 2% from 31 May 2013:

  1. Import tariffs of certain products would benefit from a twelve-month reduced duty of 2% from 31 May 2013:

  1. Certain capital goods classified in NCM Chapters 82, 84-86 and 90 will benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 4 June 2013 until 31 December 2014. This duty reduction does not apply to used, remanufactured, reconditioned and renovated goods.
  1. Certain information technology and telecommunications goods classified under NCM codes 8517.62.72, 8517.62.77, 8517.70.10, 8517.70.99, 8536.90.40, 8543.70.99 and 9030.40.90 will benefit from a reduced duty of 2% from 4 June 2013 until 31 December 2014. This duty reduction does not apply to used, remanufactured, reconditioned and renovated goods.
