Mexico : New Standards for Road Lighting Systems and Gas-fuelled Cooking Appliances

Mexico's Ministry of Energy has recently issued new minimum energy efficiency standards for road lighting systems, and minimum energy efficiency standards and safety requirements for gas-fuelled cooking appliances.

DETAILS

2.The new minimum energy efficiency standards for road lighting systems (NOM-013-ENER-2013) apply to all new lighting systems for road, open, closed, or roofed parking lots, as well as any modifications or expansions of current lighting installations regardless of size or connected load. New energy performance levels are set in terms of maximum values of electrical power density for lighting as well as average luminance levels for various applications of road lighting systems. The standards will be effective 12 October 2013.

3.The new minimum energy efficiency standards for upper burners of household cooking ranges fuelled by natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (NOM-025-ENER-2013) set energy efficiency rate according to thermal capacity, and will be effective 14 December 2013. The new safety requirements for household cooking appliances fuelled by natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (NOM-010-SESH-2013) establish specific requirements regarding construction, technical specifications, general test conditions, test methods, marking, sampling and conformity assessment. The effective date is 25 November 2013.
