Commercial Information Circular No. 47/2013

Brazil : Conformity Certification Requirements for Various Products

The National Institute of Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality (INMETRO) of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil issued Decrees in October and November 2012 to establish the conformity certification requirements and compliance dates for various products:

  • (a) Tyres
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 29 October 2016 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 29 April 2017 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 29 April 2018 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
  • (b) Party Articles
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 29 October 2013 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 29 October 2014 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 29 October 2015 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
  • (c) Metal Ladders
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 14 May 2014 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 14 November 2014 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 14 November 2015 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
  • (d) Plastic Seats
      Compliance Date Application Criteria
    (i) 26 November 2014 manufacture and import of such products
    (ii) 26 May 2015 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
    (iii) 26 November 2015 domestic sale of such products by all other parties

2.The INMETRO issued Decree No. 549/2012 on 25 October 2012 to amend the conformity certification requirements for passenger vehicles.

3.The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 125/2012 of 16 February 2012 that the INMETRO established the conformity certification requirements for microwave ovens. The INMETRO has, vide Decree No. 600/2012 of 9 November 2012, extended the compliance deadline for conformity certification requirements for microwave ovens:

  Compliance Date Application Criteria
(i) 29 June 2013 manufacture and import of such products
(ii) 29 December 2013 domestic sale of such products by manufacturers and importers
(iii) 29 December 2013 domestic sale of such products by all other parties
