Dear Sirs,
Commercial Information Circular No. 457/2013
Canada : New Fines to Strengthen the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act
Health Canada issued a news release on 4 June 2013 to introduce the Administrative Monetary Penalties (Consumer Products) Regulations (the Regulations) which would prescribe fines for companies who violated orders under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). The news release and the link to the Regulations can be found at: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ahc-asc/media/nr-cp/_2013/2013-73-eng.php.
DETAILS
2. Administrative monetary penalties only come into effect when a company fails to comply with government orders in the recalling or taking of other measures against a non-compliant product. The Regulations prescribe the time and manner in which these monetary penalties are calculated, modified, or paid, as well as the manner in which certain documents must be provided. Penalties reflect both the seriousness of the violation and any past violation history.
