Commercial Information Circular No. 421/2013

Uruguay : Certain Modifications to Exceptions From the MERCOSUR1 Common External Tariff

The Uruguayan government issued a supplementary Decree No. 2167 in March 2013 that makes certain modification to Uruguay's list of exceptions from the MERCOSUR common external tariff.

2. Specifically, duty-free treatment is provided to goods classified under MERCOSUR Common Classification (NCM) 2401.20.30, 4804.11.00, 5402.20.00, 5509.22.00, 5402.33.10, 5402.33.20, 7225.11.00, 7226.11.00 and 7323.10.00 (limited to steel wool cakes).

3.At the same time, duty-free exceptions has been removed for goods classified under NCM 1301.90.90, 2401.30.00, 4407.99.70, 4411.12.10, 4411.13.10, 5201.00.20, 5402.33.00 and 8540.11.00.  These products are now subject to the regular rate of duty under the MERCOSUR common external tariff.
