Commercial Information Circular No. 244/2013

Chile : Extension of Compliance Date of Test Protocol for Certain Household Products and Lamp Ballasts

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 618/2012 of 7 August 2012 that the Chilean government updated the test protocol for certification of certain domestically manufactured or imported household products. The Chilean government issued an Exempt Resolution No. 2332/2012 in February 2013 to extend the compliance date for the following products:

Products Compliance Date
juice makers 31 January 2013
food grinders 28 February 2013
mixers 29 March 2013
tin openers, knife sharpeners, butter kneaders, sieves, knives, liquidisers, multi-use machines, machines used for cutting green beans, ice-cream makers, bread/cheese/meat slicing machines, potato peelers and cheese graters 30 April 2013

2.The Chilean government has also extended  the compliance date from 2 January 2013 to 1 September 2013 for certain lamp ballasts vide Exempt Resolution No. 2439/2012 issued in February 2013, to comply with the standards IEC 61347-2-9:2006, IEC 61347-1:2007 and IEC 60923:2006 in accordance with test protocol PE No. 5/10.  Such products include ballasts for discharge lamps of high pressure sodium, low pressure sodium, high pressure mercury and/or metal halides.
