Commercial Information Circular No. 182/2013
Mexico : Cancellation of Various Product Standards
The Mexican government published separate notices (in Spanish) in the Official Gazette (Diario Oficial de la Federación) of 21 December 2012 cancelling the mandatory official standards on a number of products.
DETAILS
2.The following standards establishing phytosanitary requirements for the subject imports are cancelled:
- NOM-062-FITO-1995 on vegetables and their products imported by mail or courier (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5283120&fecha=21/12/2012);
- NOM-044-FITO-1995 on nuts as well as processed and dehydrated vegetable products (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5283119&fecha=21/12/2012);
- NOM-028-FITO-1995 on grains and seeds (except for planting) (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5283118&fecha=21/12/2012);
- NOM-009-FITO-1995 on fresh cut flowers and foliage (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5283117&fecha=21/12/2012);
- NOM-008-FITO-1995 on fresh fruits and vegetables (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5283116&fecha=21/12/2012);
- NOM-007-FITO-1995 on propagative vegetable materials (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5283115&fecha=21/12/2012); and
- NOM-006-FITO-1995 on vegetables and their products not covered by a specific official standard (http://dof.gob.mx/nota_detalle.php?codigo=5283114&fecha=21/12/2012).
3.Notwithstanding the above, importers must still comply with the phytosanitary requirements regulated by the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food on matters of plant health as published in the Official Gazette of 7 February 2012.
