Commercial Information Circular No. 15/2013

Brazil : Nutritional Labeling for Food Products

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 385/2012 of 29 May 2012 that the Mercosur issued Resolution No. 1/2012 to establish technical regulations on supplementary nutritional information contained on the labels of the packaged food produced and sold in the MERCOSUR. The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) of Brazil issued Resolution No. 54/2012 on 12 November 2012 to incorporate the Mercosur Resolution into its national legislation. The technical regulations will come into effect on 1 January 2014.
