Commercial Information Circular No. 989/2012

US : Uniform Compliance Date for Food Labeling Regulations

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published in the Federal Register (FR) of 28 November 2012 a final rule establishing 1 January 2016 as the uniform compliance date for food labeling regulations that are issued between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2014. The relevant FR notice is available at: http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2012-11-28/pdf/2012-28817.pdf.

2.This final rule does not intend to change the compliance dates contained in final rules published before 1 January 2013. All such final rules will go into effect on the date stated in the respective FR notice.

3.Interested parties may submit to the FDA comments on this final rule by 28 January 2013.
