Chile: Test Protocols for Certain Heaters

The trade was informed via Commercial Information Circular No. 835/2012 of 16 October 2012 that the Chilean government has established conformity certification requirements for certain heaters fuelled by firewood or any other wood product with a power of 25 kilowatts or less. The Ministry of Energy of Chile issued Exempt Resolution No. 1393/2012 on 31 August 2012 to set out the test protocols for certification of such heaters.

2.The test protocols used to certify the heaters are (1) PC No. 200 (for safety); (2) PC No. 200/1 (for energy efficiency); and (3) PC No. 200/2 (for particulate emissions). The test protocols will enter into force on 1 October 2013, while manufacturers, importers, and wholesalers and retailers may use the protocol once the Ministry authorises the required certification bodies and test laboratories.
