Commercial Information Circular No. 835/2012

Chile : Conformity Certification Requirements for Various Products

The Ministry of Energy of Chile issued Exempt Resolution No. 62/2012 and No. 63/2012 on 14 August 2012 to establish conformity certification requirements for certain heaters fuelled by firewood or any other wood product with a power of 25 kilowatts or less, and electrical products to be sold in Chile.

2. The conformity certification requirements for certain heaters fuelled by firewood or any other wood product will enter into force on 1 October 2013. The certificate has to be issued by a certification body authorized by the superintendence of electricity and fuel.

3. Other electrical products subject to conformity certification requirements include home theatres, printers, male plug adapters, hot water bags, light-emitting diode decorative lights, fryers and projectors. These products will be required to be accompanied by a conformity certification certificate once the applicable test protocols enter into force, with designated conformity certification bodies and test laboratories.
